Your future home in South Santa Barbara County is situated between the Santa Ynez Mountains to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south and its branded The American Riviera, creating a Mediterranean climate such as one would find in Europe. We are located on a narrow coastal plain with agricultural property to the east and west leaving little room for more development.
What do We Love About Santa Barbara?Start your day with a hike in the foothills and a drop-dead gorgeous vista from Montecito to Goleta, encompassing the Channel Islands, the ocean and the harbor and all of the beautifully landscaped hills and canyons in between. After your hike, visit one of our many beaches, stroll along the bike path, shop til you drop, or eat at one of our hundreds of restaurants in Santa Barbara County. It was once said that we have more restaurants here per capita than anywhere else on the west coast!
Santa Barbara is just one of the communities in the south coast - the population is about 90,000. All told, including Goleta (home to UCSB), Hope Ranch, Montecito Homes, Summerland and Carpinteria, our population is about 250,000. And, being a truly international community, we have something in the way of entertainment to offer everyone - theaters, opera, UCSB Arts and Lectures, drama productions, etc. You can also golf at numerous courses, ride horses, rent kayaks, and so much more! One is never bored here!
I moved here in the early 1970 s and was lucky to have raised two wonderful children in beautiful Santa Barbara. The local schools can compete with the best and there are several private school choices. There is an activity for everyone, including parks, play spaces, skateboard park, great surf breaks and numerous beaches. Our area is also famous for its wineries - I helped co-found one of the original wineries in the early 1980s and Santa Barbara proper now has its own "Urban Wine Trail" located in downtown Santa Barbara. Look for my sons wine - "Drake" - featured at Whitchraft Winery on Calle Ceasar Chavez and offered at only a couple of our finest restaurants.
